Boston Baptist Church

The Boston Baptist Church (BBC) proposes to modernize its current Gymnasium (Gym) to accommodate future demand through a flexible facility that provides modern amenities to the public and meets the operational needs of the church, and surrounding community. The concept includes modernizing the existing facilities versus replacing it. In doing so, the desire is to improve the existing infrastructure, while at the same time preserving the character of the facility. The BBC Pastor will act as its own Project Manager and the modernization includes modernizing the current facility to improve life and resiliency as well as efficiency upgrades, meet future demand, reduce environmental impacts through sustainability, improve the customer experience, ensure flexibility as operations evolve and enhance Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) access.

An Open House to discuss project and see project site is set for 11am, September 27, 2024 at 4226 Jackson Ave Memphis, TN 38128. RSVP to bostonbaptistchurchinc@gmail.com your intent to attend Open House no later than COB September 26, 2024.

  • The project scope will:

  • Improve the face of the building entry points with glass doors

  • Reconfigure the entry lobby, current third single door entry removed and construct permanent wall.

  • Reconstruct Front Entry Walk-Way to include a canvas canopy awning (t-shaped).

  • Inspect current metal roofing, repair penetrating areas as needed.

  • Paint interior and exterior structure to include interior ceiling a single color (pepper white RGB 219, 214, 203), all interior and exterior trim painting to include eaves and downspouts, charcoal grey #3C4142.

  • Upgrade all lighting fixtures, interior and exterior to LED.

  • Convert current locker room to Women Bathroom to include sinks and toilets and lighting fixtures.

  • Convert male / female bathrooms at entry to a single male bathroom.

  • Ensure all appliances in kitchen is operable and configure vent hood to code.

  • Resurface the gym floor to include basic wood repairs as needed; including replace cove base or suggest like products.

  • Resurface front exterior walk-way leading to facility (area under new proposed awning) to accommodate ease of wheel chair entry.
